Enough is Enough!
It has been a rough two years for everyone. Agreed?
There has been a huge learning curve navigating the work-from-home environment that has been imposed on so many of us. But – and I may be going out on a limb here – it is NOT okay for real estate agents (or any business associate, for that matter) to be calling or texting me late at night!
I have just returned from a real estate Master Class where some of the best and brightest, most seasoned and successful real estate agents gathered. One overriding lesson that game through loud and clear during my time there is that rest and recovery are non-negotiable.
Being at the top of my game is essential to delivering the best possible service to my clients in this very challenging market. Our industry has been on over-drive, and it has become clear that we cannot perform at our best if we do not make time to catch our breath.
I also want to point out that although we firmly believe that professional real estate support is imperative for you to maximize the profit and minimize the stress in buying or selling a home, we are not brain surgeons. We don’t need to be on call at 10 o’clock at night! And trust me, there are no real estate emergencies that can be sorted out at that hour.
This is not just happening in the real estate industry. We see this everywhere, in every line of work. But it is not healthy to completely ignore our personal boundaries and let work take over our lives.
So here is my solution: STOP IT!
Turn off the phones and the computers. They are tools, not our masters. They are there to support our work, not to control our every waking (and sleeping) moment.
We are all craving “normalcy” and “routine”. It is only human. So, let’s get back to it, shall we?
I, for one, am drawing the line and giving notice: SO THAT WE MAY SERVE YOU BEST, OUR HOURS ARE MONDAY-FRIDAY, 9-5, EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS BY APPOINTMENT.
